Gov. Bill Owens issued five more vetoes Thursday – raising his total for the session to 40. He also signed 28 more bills.
The vetoed bills focused on proposed changes in laws affecting education programs, from grade school to universities.
Two bills would have affected the state’s system for monitoring school performance. Senate Bill 214 would have changed the system the state uses to monitor school accountability, and House Bill 1216 would have changed the cycle for improving low-performing schools.
Owens also blocked bills regarding online education programs, international education opportunities and changes to the Colorado State University Board of Governors.
