License meetings

The Colorado Division of Wildlife has announced eight public meetings to discuss recommendations regarding the distribution of hunting licenses after an analysis by the Big Game License Allocation Working Group. All begin at 7 p.m. In Colorado Springs: Tuesday, Division of Wildlife Hunter Education Classroom, 4255 Sinton Road. In La Junta: July 20, Otero Junior College, 2001 San Juan Ave. In Sterling: July 21, Ramada Inn, U.S. 6 at Interstate 76. In Monte Vista: July 26, Monte Vista Coop, 1901 East U.S. 160. In Denver: July 27, Division of Wildlife Hunter Education Building, 6060 Broadway. In Montrose: Aug. 2, Fellowship Hall, County Fairgrounds, 1001 North Second St. In Grand Junction: Aug. 3, Doubletree Hotel, 743 Horizon Drive. In Craig: Aug. 4, Shadow Mountain Village, 1055 County Road 7.

Grand Junction hearing

The Colorado Wildlife Commission will hear recommendations from two key committees involving big game hunting. One will deliver recommendations on the Ranching for Wildlife program; another will detail the final findings of the Big Game License Allocation Working Group. The agenda also includes a first reading of proposed changes in fishing regulations for the 2006-10 period. The meetings at the Holiday Inn, 755 Horizon Drive, are 9 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.

Fish salvage

A public salvage of fish at Continental Reservoir 30 miles west of Creede will continue through Sunday. The reservoir, which contains brook, rainbow, cutthroat and splake, is being drained to repair the outlet structure. Nets and snagging will be allowed.
