Washington – U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, R-Colo., has added to a House bill two measures to help college students and their families.

One of the amendments would make certain that stipends given to Colorado students to help pay for college are not counted as financial aid and won’t affect a student’s ability to receive aid.

The other amendment declares that the assets of a small business can’t be included when determining the net worth of a family and its ability to finance a child’s college education.

The bill was passed out of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and faces a vote by the full House.
