Boulder – No punishment has been decided for Colorado wide receiver Alvin Barnett, coach Dan Hawkins said Monday.
Barnett, 20, was arrested by Boulder police early Thursday morning on suspicion of drunken driving. A breathalyzer test was administered to Barnett that registered .087, just over the legal limit.
Barnett, a junior, caught 17 passes for 131 yards last season, and is in the mix for more playing time this season. He is second on the depth chart at the “X” wide receiver slot.
Hawkins suspended cornerback Gerett Burl earlier this month for a second violation of team rules.
Class could grow
Hawkins said he plans to add at least one more player to the Buffaloes’ incoming freshman class.
Colorado recently signed Jalil Brown from South Mountain High School in Phoenix. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Brown is expected to play in the secondary at CU. He likely will be tried first at cornerback.
Brown played running back and safety in high school.
As a running back he amassed 1,900 yards and 26 touchdowns, including a state single-game record 412 yards and five touchdowns against rival Central High.
