Make way for Lou.

“Lou From Littleton,” who announced he was through with sports-talk radio when he went off the air at KKFN 950-AM in December, is back.

Lou, whose real handle is Tom Manoogian, will host “Gridiron Grill,” set to air after Denver Broncos games on KOA 850-AM.

He also will co-host “Broncos Talk” Thursday nights with David Diaz-Infante, beginning Sept. 7, from Indigo Joe’s in Centennial. Charles Johnson did the show with Diaz-Infante last season.

Lou quit “The Fan,” he said, to spend more time with his four children. That would drive anybody back to radio.

Up for Marconi

Two of the five Marconi Award nominees for large-market radio personalities of the year are from Denver.

Peter Boyles (KHOW 630-AM) and Kelly, Jonathan & Mudflap (KYGO 98.5-FM) were named for the National Association of Broadcaster awards to be given at the NAB convention in Dallas on Sept. 21.

KQKS (107.5-FM) was nominated as top contemporary-hits station and KYGO as top country station.

KJ&M previously were nominated in 2004 and 2005, and their station won as large-market station of the year and top country station in 2004.

Got it covered

It doesn’t pay much, but there is short-term immortality.

KBCO 97.3-FM took out full-page ads in both Denver dailies over the weekend, asking listeners to vote for their favorite among 12 entries in the station’s cover contest for its 18th annual “Studio C” CD.

Make mine No. 12.

Voters are eligible to win a copy of the new CD. Deadline to vote is July 31.

Away they go

CBS Radio’s recent axing of 100 employees “to manage costs” didn’t reach to Denver.

Don Howe, who oversees KWLI 92.5-FM, KXKL 105.1-FM and KIMN 100.3-FM for CBS Radio in Denver, says the effects here were “minimal.” Among the cuts were general managers in Los Angeles and New York.

Radio companies have been rocked recently by declining revenues.

Around the dial

It’s been on before, but “Farther Than the Eye Can See,” which chronicles Erik Weihenmayer’s heroic attempt to become the first blind climber to summit Mount Everest, is heroic and uplifting (7 p.m. Thursday, KBDI-Channel 12) … The Aug. 6 Red Rocks appearance of My Chemical Romance, sponsored by KTCL 93.3-FM, has been canceled. Refunds at point of sale … Local jazz legend Dale Bruning is the subject of discussion on Susan Gatschet Reese’s morning show (10:30 a.m. Thursday, KUVO 89.3-FM). … Quotable: “Sorry, I don’t know much about you. I don’t follow tennis.” Christina Aguilera to Tiger Woods
