Who: Peter Kosa of Slovakia and Cassandra Stanek of Broomfield
Where: Budapest
Best meal: There are many streetside cafes and restaurants that serve delicious food. The service is slow but when you are sitting next to the Danube it doesn’t matter.
Best deal: Having a car at our disposal and being able to travel back and forth across the Danube River, which has nine bridges between Buda and Pest. The house of Parliament can be seen for many miles as you enter Buda. The flat Pest skyline is dominated by this building and is open to tours. Budapest is full of architecture, museums, shops, churches, castles, restaurants and cafes. Visit the Chain Bridge and the Buda Castle. In Pest, be sure to visit the Hero’s Square. It also helped that Peter is fluent in Hungarian.
Best time to go: July or August when the festivals are taking place. The weather can be sunny and warm, with rain at times.
Best travel tip: The street names are printed on the buildings, which most of the time are hidden by trees.
