San Luis Valley walk-in
In a drive to expand its walk-in access program for small game hunters, the Division of Wildlife is attempting to make contact with potential landowner participants in Rio Grande, Conejos and Alamosa counties.
The agency is seeking property for spring turkey hunting as part of a plan to extend a program that originally was devised solely for pheasant hunting. The program is funded through sale of a $20 permit that gives access to enrolled lands. The permit is available at all DOW offices and license vendors.
Landowners may earn from $5 to $25 per acre, depending upon the amount and quality of hunting opportunity. For information on San Luis Valley transactions, call 719-587-6900.
