The Metro State and Mesa State women’s volleyball teams will face each other in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament after each team posted wins Thursday in the first round in Canyon, Texas.
Stefanie Allison had 24 kills and 20 digs to lead No. 2 seed Metro to a 3-1 (30-24, 30-24, 32-34, 30-22) win over No. 7 seed Fort Lewis. Stacey Vogel led No. 3 Mesa’s attack with 24 kills in a 3-2 (26-30, 30-26, 34-32, 27-30, 15-13) win over No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney.
No. 5 seed Montana State-Billings is in the other semifinal after a 3-0 win over Western New Mexico and will play the winner of Thursday night’s West Texas A&M-Abilene Christian match.
Linfield ends CC’s volleyball season
The Linfield College volleyball team swept Colorado College from the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 30-27, 30-18, 30-15 first-round victory at the Frantz Athletic Court in La Verne, Calif.
No. 14-ranked Linfield (22-2) will face the winner of Thursday’s late match between Redlands and Pacific Lutheran in today’s second round. Colorado College (23-11) was led by Michelle Rybka’s nine kills and Anna Clithero’s eight kills and seven digs.
