DENVER – Gov.-elect Bill Ritter appointed former state lawmaker and lobbyist Todd Saliman on Thursday as his budget director.

As director of the Office of State Planning and Budget, Saliman will head up Ritter’s budget proposals, economic forecasts and revenue estimates.

Saliman served in the legislature from 1994 to 2002, with a four-year stint on the legislature’s budget-writing committee.

After leaving the legislature, Saliman began lobbying and has represented such clients as the city of Denver, Boulder County and the University of Colorado, making almost $300,000 in lobbying fees in the past fiscal year, according to state records.
