Xcel energy officials are working to repair a gas leak in the Highlands Ranch development south of Denver.
With temperatures hovering in single digits and several inches of new snow on the ground, utility officials say it may be several days before the leak is completely repaired.
Xcel is bringing in a crew from the T.D. Williamson Company in Tulsa to work on the pipeline and to try to install a temporary bypass, said Mark Stutz, an Excel spokesman.
Gas flow to homes that depend on the fuel for heating has not bee interrupted by the leak, Stutz said, but 61 homes were evacuated Friday night as a precaution.
