The B-17 bomber “Liberty Belle” will be in Colorado this weekend at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport in Broomfield.
The World War II Flying Fortress is touring the country on a “Salute to Veterans Tour” sponsored by the Liberty Foundation (),
The public can not only take in the sight of historic plane but also has the chance to fly in the legendary aircraft.
“Our B-17 ‘Liberty Belle’ provides passengers an opportunity to take a step back-in-time and gain respect for the men and women who gave so much to protect our freedoms,” reads a statement on the web site. “If you do not care to take a flight, please come out to watch the Liberty Belle fly and take a ground tour. The Liberty Foundation relies solely on donations and contributions to help defray the B-17’s high operational expense and maintenance costs.”
The total flight experience takes 45 minutes with half hour of flight time. The cost is $430.00 per passenger, a small price to pay for historic time travel back to WWII.
