John Olive of the Broadmoor continued his quest to become the first golfer to win five Colorado Golf Association Senior Match Play Championship after he defeated Hal Marshall of Bear Creek 3 and 2 in the Round of 16 and topped Rick George of Castle Pines 1 up in the quarterfinals Thursday at Red Rocks Country Club in Morrison.

Olive, who won in 1997 and 2001-03, will face Chuck Fisher of Riverdale, a 2-and-1 quarterfinal winner over Robin Bradbury of Fox Hill, in today’s semifinal round.

Also, David Delich rallied late to knock out defending champion Kent Moore of Cherry Hills in the quarterfinals after he made par on the final two holes for a 1-up win.

CHL: Laredo topples Colorado in Game 3

The Laredo Bucks scored three second-period goals and jumped to a 4-0 lead en route to a 6-3 win over the Colorado Eagles in Game 3 of the Central Hockey League Ray Miron President’s Cup finals. Colorado leads the series 2-1 with Game 4 on Saturday in Laredo, Texas.

Buttermilk to host Winter X Games 12

Organizers announced that the Winter X Games 12 will be held at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen/Snowmass from Jan. 24-27 with an international roster of athletes competing in skiing, snowboard and snowmobile events. Practice and elimination rounds will take place Jan. 22-23. The games will air live on ESPN and ABC and will include night events. X Games, now in its eighth consecutive year in Aspen/Snowmass, is scheduled to stay there through 2010.
