MANCOS, Colo.—A man found dead in Mancos State Park had been shot six times in the back from close range, authorities said.

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Alfonso Raul Sena of Mancos. He was found Wednesday by people out for a stroll.

Montezuma County Coroner Charlie Rosenbaugh said two of the shots were fired from point-blank range and the others were fired from within two feet.

Rosenbaugh said Sena was probably killed in the early morning hours Wednesday. He was found shortly before 1 p.m.

The weapon appeared to be a 9 mm pistol, the coroner said.

The Montezuma County Sheriff’s Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation were investigating. Sheriff Gerald Wallace said no suspects have been identified.

Mancos State Park, just outside Mancos, is 135 miles south of Grand Junction and 240 miles southwest of Denver.
