WASHINGTON — U.S. regulators voted to cancel the exclusive deals that Comcast and other cable operators have with apartment buildings, a victory to phone companies expanding into TV.
In a unanimous vote, the Federal Communications Commission adopted new rules Wednesday that will let AT&T and Verizon offer television service in buildings whose cable-TV contracts locked them out.
It may lower prices, improve service and broaden Internet use, officials say.
