GREELEY, COLO. — A former Weld County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested on charges of helping her friend plan the murder of a romantic rival.

Micelle Dawn Moore was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of conspiracy and attempted murder.

An arrest warrant affidavit accuses the 26-year-old Windsor woman of helping her friend, Shawna Nelson, plan the gunshot slaying of Heather Garraus.

Family members say Nelson had an affair with Garraus’ husband.

Nelson is charged with first-degree murder and is scheduled to go on trial on November 29th.

Nelson’s husband, Ken Nelson, faces a charge of tampering with evidence in her wife’s case. Ken Nelson is a former Weld County sheriff’s investigator.
