Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence Tuesday morning during a short hearing in Denver District Court.

Marshall was arrested in Lower Downtown on Oct. 22 on suspicion of drunken driving. A trial date was set for March 24.

Marshall’s arrest came hours after he caught six passes for 77 yards in the Broncos’ 31-28 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Invesco Field at Mile High. Marshall was arrested in Douglas County on suspicion of domestic violence in March, but those charges were dismissed.

Roster changes. In addition to the Paul Ernster-for-Todd Sauerbrun swap at punter, the Broncos made other moves Tuesday. They promoted defensive back Rod Rogers from the practice squad and cut safety Marviel Underwood. The team also placed safety Nick Ferguson on injured reserve because of a knee injury. Ferguson missed the past two games because of the injury.

The Broncos have an opening on the 53-man roster and an opening on the eight-man practice squad. There is a good chance Denver will fill those spots early this practice week. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Broncos pursue a player for the active roster from another team’s practice squad.
