A police car parked on a Fort Collins street was set on fire Wednesday, and the arsonist is still at large.
The incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 5100 block of Corbett Drive, Fort Collins police said.
The Poudre Fire Authority extinguished the fire, and no one was injured, police said.
A resident in the area told investigators she had awakened to let her dogs out and heard a noise near a parked police car. She then saw a man “crouched” near the rear of the 2000 Ford Crown Victoria.
The woman put her dogs back in the house and looked back out onto the street and saw the cruiser on fire, police said.
The car was heavily damaged.
Police describe the suspect as a white man, about 6-foot-2, with a medium build and short, light hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark knee-length shorts with a stripe down the side and tennis shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Marnie Christensen at 970-221-6580 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
Tipsters can remain anonymous and receive $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
