A substitute teacher and assistant coach at Lakewood High School has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting at least one student.
Police arrested Jon William McCarthy, 31, this morning at the school. Police said McCarthy is suspected of having sexual relations with a juvenile female student at the school. He may also have had an inappropriate relationship with another juvenile female who attended the school last year, police said.
McCarthy is expected to remain in jail over the weekend and appear in court next week to answer to a charge of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, and the same charge again “with a pattern.”
The juvenile victims have not been identified.
