PINON CANYON MANEUVER SITE, Colo.—The Army says a wildfire on its Pinon Canyon training site has grown to nearly 46,000 acres but is 55 percent contained.
The military said Monday that about 355 personnel from eight agencies were fighting the southeastern Colorado fire, supported by three aircraft, three water tenders and 19 engines.
Lightning is believed to have started the on June 8. It spread to surrounding ranch land as well as state and federal land later in the week.
There have been no reports of damage to structures or injuries.
