DENVER—A jury has ruled against a Florida woman who filed a lawsuit alleging Vail Resorts was negligent in hiring a ski instructor who she says raped her.

The woman alleged that she was 17 when she was raped in January 2006 by former Beaver Creek ski instructor David Lorenzen when she went to his apartment after skiing with him.

A jury acquitted Lorenzen of a rape charge last year, but he was given probation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Vail Resorts attorneys presented records in the latest trial showing Lorenzen wasn’t working the day the woman says she was raped.

Juror Debbie Woodward says jurors decided Wednesday that Vail Resorts could not have foreseen the encounter.
