FORT CARSON, Colo.—The Defense Department says a soldier from Fort Carson died in Iraq last week.
The department announced Monday that Spc. Steven J. Fitzmorris died Aug. 25 of wounds he suffered while on patrol. He was 26 and from Columbia, Mo.
The married father of two was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team in the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson.
Fort Carson officials say Fitzmorris joined the Army Jan. 4, 2007.
