Continuing discussions of the five-year review of the big-game season structure will dominate a Thursday meeting of the Colorado Wildlife Commission at the Colorado Springs Doubletree Hotel, 1775 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. Proposals include an expansion of the number of units in which limited elk licenses are required.
Agenda items include establishment of the 2009 turkey seasons and license allocations, whitefish bag limits on the upper Yampa River and draft regulations to consider closures of Division of Wildlife properties for aquatic nuisance species protections.
Dennis Breer dies.
Popular Green River guide Dennis Breer was killed in an accident Thursday at his home in Dutch John, Utah. Breer for years was a fixture on the river at his Trout Creek Flies shop and Green River Outfitters guide service, and also well-known in Denver fly-fishing circles for his frequent programs about the river. Services are pending.

A Colorado Division of Wildlife Sportsmen’s Advisory Group meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the agency’s office, 4255 Sinton Road. The public is invited to a session at which a variety of wildlife-related issues will be discussed. Wildlife commissioner Tim Glenn also will participate in the exchange.
