MANKATO, Minn.—Jesse Martin scored twice and the University of Denver held on to win its sixth straight game, beating Minnesota State, Mankato 3-2 Friday.

Joe Colborne also scored for the fifth-ranked Pioneers, who moved atop the WCHA standings. J.P. Testwuide had three assists.

Denver has outscored its opponents 29-4 during its winning streak.

After a scoreless first period Denver (12-5-1, 8-4-1 WCHA) scored the first three goals of the middle frame.

Colborne tapped in a pass from Tyler Ruegsegger at 5:38. The latter deked a sliding defender, spun and backhanded a tape-to-tape pass across the crease to Colborne.

Martin scored his two goals less than 4 minutes apart midway through the period, first finishing a two-on-one with Anthony Maiani, and then taking a pass in front from Maiani and wristing a shot past Mike Zacharais.

Tyler Thompson scored late in the second period for No. 14 Minnesota State (8-6-3, 5-6-2), which lost its third straight. Rylan Galiardi tipped a shot past Marc Cheverie for a power play goal midway through the final period. Denver had successfully killed all 28 previous man disadvantages during its winning streak.
