GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—Prosecutors are investigating an allegation of misconduct by Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario over a romantic relationship with a jail officer.
District Attorney Martin Beeson says he’s investigating the allegation made in an unsigned e-mail sent to county commissioners and news outlets.
Beeson says he replied to the e-mail address, hoping to contact the person who sent it, but has not heard back.
Vallario told the Glenwood Springs Post Independent two weeks ago he was in a serious relationship with a jail officer but had done nothing improper because the operations of the department weren’t affected.
Department policy says employees have a right to personal relationships if the performance of essential duties isn’t disrupted.
