LONDON — Britain’s main opposition Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, made his first public comments Saturday about the sudden death of his severely disabled son.
The lawmaker’s 6-year-old son, Ivan, died Wednesday after being rushed to a hospital. He had cerebral palsy and Ohtahara syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy.
In an e-mail to party staff members and activists, Cameron said the loss had created a hole in his family “so big that words can’t describe it.” Ivan was the eldest of Cameron and wife Samantha’s three children and required constant care.
