LINCOLN, Neb.—Katie Holoubek scored 16 of her 24 points in the second half and Aquinas Catholic pulled away for a 58-46 victory over defending champion Perkins County in the Class C2 semifinals at the girls state basketball tournament Friday.
Aquinas (22-2), in the tournament for the second time, will make its first appearance in the finals.
The Monarchs led 26-25 at half, but Holoubek scored 11 of her team’s 17 third-quarter points to stretch the lead to 43-35. The 6-foot junior center has 49 points in two games.
Mary Klosterman added 16 for Aquinas.
Sara Wilson scored 26 to lead Perkins County (22-2).
