BOULDER — A 49-year-old Niwot man arrested in 2007 on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl and drinking her urine has disappeared after failing to show up for his jury trial.
Along with Boulder County sheriff’s detectives, a bail bonds company that lost $100,000 in the case is searching for Joseph S. Cardillo, who’s charged with sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
Cardillo pleaded not guilty to the felony charge last year, and was due to have a jury trial in December. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
Now, Boulder’s Speedy Release Bail Bonds company is suing Cardillo’s brother and sister for the $100,000 it posted Nov. 2, 2007, to free Cardillo from the Boulder County Jail.
