LOVELAND, Colo.—A 19-year-old man faces second-degree murder and first-degree assault charges following a fatal stabbing at a Loveland park.

Larry Walters of Loveland is due in court Wednesday. He is accused in the death of 34-year-old David Shern of Loveland.

Prosecutors say Shern died May 1 after being stabbed in the upper back during an April 30 altercation in North Lake Park.

Police have released no details on the incident or what led them to accuse Walters.

Court documents that summarize the police investigation are not being released to the public while District Judge Stephen Schapanski considers a request from defense attorneys to seal the file. Schapanski’s ruling on the request is pending.
