One man was killed and another injured this morning on South Kipling Parkway in Lakewood after an accident involving two vehicles, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Preliminary indications are that one car was northbound on Kipling and the other was southbound on Kipling, according to Steve Davis, spokesman for the police department.
Davis said that investigators believe the northbound car was turning left onto West Kentucky Avenue and turned into the path of the southbound car.
Both drivers were taken to area hospitals, where the driver of the northbound vehicle died a short time later, according to Davis.
Davis said the second driver suffered injuries, but they don’t appear to be life-threatening.
The accident occurred about 8:35 a.m.
Davis said the investigation will continue to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
The identity of the dead driver has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
