Boulder police arrested three people last night for allegedly taking Ferris the dachshund puppy from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, authorities say.
Serina Emily Ojala, 18, a transient who has been staying in the Lafayette area; Daniel Michael Kitlitz, 21, also a transient; and Matthew Louis Dailey, 22, of Longmont, are being held in the Boulder County Jail on $500 bonds.
The purloined puppy was only 2 months old when it was taken on Aug. 12, said Sarah Huntley, Boulder police spokeswoman.
The suspects were found near 17th Street and Arapahoe Avenue at about 9:10 p.m.
Two women returned Ferris about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Huntley said. One of the women said a friend, who got the dog from someone else, gave it to her, Huntley said.
The dog was put up for adoption Friday.
