LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska defensive coordinator Carl Pelini says his charges are wrapping up a strong week of practice heading into Saturday night’s game against Louisiana-Lafayette.
The No. 25 Cornhuskers worked out for two hours on the grass fields north of Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.
Pelini said the defense appears to have regained its confidence after the last-minute loss at Virginia Tech.
He expects more players to be used in the defensive rotation against Lafayette. He said there is a great deal of competition at every spot, not just for starting jobs but for playing time.
He also noted that senior Phil Dillard, who had played middle linebacker his entire career, made a solid debut at weakside linebacker against the Hokies. Pelini said Dillard is playing with more speed than at any time the past two years.
