MONTROSE, Colo.—A man accused of killing a drifter and then setting fire to the body at a Montrose landfill has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jeremy Hodges of Ridgway was originally charged with first-degree murder in the 2006 death of 50-year-old Steven Kublin.

Hodges pleaded guilty to the reduced charge earlier this month. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 9.

Authorities say they believe Kublin’s body was set afire after he died. They haven’t released the cause of death.
