Two more high-profile prep football players confirmed Monday they will be heading out of state, including one who had committed to Colorado months ago.
Grandview’s Chris Martin, who earlier committed to Notre Dame, instead pledged to sign with California. And Littleton’s Mister Jones, who had announced his intention to play for CU, has switched to Texas A&M.
Martin, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound linebacker and defensive end, moved to Colorado from California before the start of the 2008 season. The five-star recruit committed to Notre Dame in the spring but passed on the Fighting Irish after coach Charlie Weis was fired following a 6-6 season.
Martin then showed interest in Florida, Oklahoma and USC before deciding Monday on Cal.
“It’s where he’s from and actually where his first offer was,” Grandview coach John Schultz said. “He’s excited.”
Jones (6-2, 195), who struggled with the uncertainty of CU coach Dan Hawkins’ situtation, visited Texas A&M over the weekend and embraced it.
“Obviously, they made a good impression on him,” Littleton coach Chad Koepke said of the Aggies. “He liked what they had to say.”
