Carmelo Anthony was again non-committal on Monday afternoon when asked if he would play on Tuesday against Dallas. But the Nuggets star said he continues to improve in coming back from an ankle injury.
“Hopefully I can get back out there tomorrow,” Anthony said after practice today in Denver. “It felt good out there today. It’s getting better each day. Pretty much I was doing a lot that I could do before I got hurt.”
Anthony has missed eight straight games with a sprained left ankle, but does appear to be closing in on playing either against Dallas or Thursday against San Antonio.
The Nuggets have done their best to survive his absence, going a respectable 8-5 in games Anthony has not played this season. As added motivation to get back on the court, the forward has also said he would not play in the All-Star game if he does not suit up for the Nuggets this week before the break.
Guard Chauncey Billups did not practice on Wednesday, but did undergo treatment for left and right ankle sprains. He did not talk to media and is listed as probable to face the Dallas Mavericks.
