BOULDER, Colo.—Jamie Katuna scored 13 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter Wednesday as the Longmont Trojans upset the Mullen Mustangs 49-40 in the girls Class 4A state semifinals.
Katuna, a junior who leads her team with 19.6 points per game, struggled through the first three quarters before coming to life.
Trailing 39-37 with 2:20 to play, Katuna sank a 3-pointer from the left side, beginning a 12-1 run that ended the game.
Tambre Haddock scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Longmont (24-3), a No. 4 seed from the Northern League, which avenged its loss to Mullen in last year’s state playoffs.
Bailey Holland scored a game-high 17 points for Mullen (18-8), a No. 2 seed from the Centennial League, which had its 11-game winning streak snapped.
Longmont will play for the Class 4A crown at the CU Events Center on Friday night.
