Another round of winter weather is working its way toward Colorado, and the foothills could see up to 12 inches of new snow.
On Tuesday the approaching system should bring snow to the northern and central mountains and rain to the eastern plains, which will likely turn to snow late in the day, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow is expected over wide parts of northern and northeastern Colorado Tuesday night and Wednesday, the weather service reports. The foothills, including the Palmer Divide area, could see up to 12 inches of new accumulation before the system moves out overnight Wednesday.
In Denver there’s a chance of a rain and snow mix before noon Tuesday, and then snow likely in the afternoon. The high temperature Tuesday in Denver should top out at 40 degrees, the weather service said. The chance for snow Tuesday in Denver will be about 60 percent and new accumulation in the city should be about one inch.
Tuesday overnight in the city the chance of snow kicks up to about 70 percent and the low temperature should be about 23 degrees, the weather service reports.
Skies will be mostly cloudy over Denver on Wednesday, bringing a 40 percent chance of snow and a high temperature of about 38 degrees.
Skies over Denver should be sunny by Thursday and the high temperature should rebound to about 55 degrees.
