PALISADE, Colo.—A small-town election that ended in a tie in Palisade had a pretty simple resolution.
A winner’s name was drawn from a hat, then she bowed from the contest and said her opponent should have the town council seat.
Patty Hanna and Penny Prinster tied for third Tuesday with 199 votes each for the three-member council. To settle the tie, officials drew a name from a hat, drawing Hanna’s name.
Hanna then immediately dropped out, saying Prinster should have the job.
The Palisade Town Board will make the final decision on who will take the spot. The top two vote-getters will be sworn in next week.
