Thomas Ansley Holloway has been charged with murdering his stepfather and attempting to kill his ex-wife and son on June 28 in Broomfield.

Holloway, 53, who lived in Boulder, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of attempted first-degree burglary and first-degree assault.

Police went to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Summit Boulevard in Broomfield shortly after 8 a.m. on June 28 on reports of shots fired.

After arriving, police found that shots had been fired through the door of the apartment belonging to Cindy Holloway, 51, Holloway’s ex-wife. They then went to the nearby apartment of Thomas Holloway’s stepfather, Jack Schueller, 85, and found him dead from a gunshot wound to the neck.

The shooter, later determined to be Holloway, had fled.

Police say Holloway drove back to Boulder, went to his adult daughter’s residence in the 900 block of 14th Street, broke in and assaulted his daughter’s roommate.

The roommate was allegedly hit on the head and cut with a bottle. As Holloway fled, his daughter was arriving back at her residence.

After speaking with the people at the 14th Street address, the Boulder SWAT team responded to an 11-floor apartment complex in the 800 block of Folsom Street where Holloway lives.

SWAT members eventually knocked on the door of Holloway’s apartment. He answered and was taken into custody.
