A Longmont veterinary clinic is raising money to help bomb-sniffing Marine Corps dogs weather the Afghan heat.

Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists has raised $3,000 for injections of Lactated Ringer’s Solution, which help the dogs stay hydrated as temperatures exceed 120 degrees.

“What a wonderful gift this organization has given to our four-legged Marines,” Nori Jackson, the battalion’s family readiness officer, said.

Extra money will help local emergency dogs, including those assigned to law enforcement and search crews.

To make a donation, call Kelly Walker at 303-678-8844 or send checks payable to AMVS to 104 S. Main Longmont, Colo. 80501. Joey Bunch, The Denver Post
