Lafayette Police are investigating the death of an infant, about 10 weeks old, who died at the Children’s Hospital last night.
The infant was identified as Lyon D. Campos of Lafayette, by the Boulder County Coroner’s office.
Lafayette police were first dispatched to the infant’s home at about 7:20 a.m. on Monday after the father called to report that he had fallen down the stairs while holding the infant, according to a release by Lafayette Police.
The infant was transported at that time to Exempla Hospital in Lafayette. The infant was treated and released the same day.
That night, at about 7:45 p.m., police were called again after a call reporting that the infant was not breathing.
Lafayette Fire Department Paramedics transported the infant back to the hospital in Lafayette, where he then was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in serious condition.
The infant was pronounced dead by hospital staff after 10 p.m. Wednesday.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing and no other information has been released.
