DENVER—A 20-year-old man has been arrested in an armed robbery that wounded an employee at a fast-food restaurant on the Fort Carson Army post.

Joshua Smith, a civilian who lives on the base, is accused of robbing a Burger King on the base south of Colorado Springs on Oct. 11 and shooting an employee in the leg. He was arrested Tuesday.

Federal authorities said he’s also a suspect in an Aug. 31 robbery of a Colorado Springs store in which an employee was shot in the shoulder. No charges have been filed in that case.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Denver said Smith appeared in federal court Wednesday. Smith is being held in federal custody and is due in court Monday for a detention hearing.

Fort Carson spokesman Maj. Kevin Toner said a 20-year-old soldier, Pfc. Bianca Soto, was restricted to the base while military authorities investigate whether she was involved in the October robbery.
