Michael Douglas says the news of his Golden Globe nod for “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” was welcome news in light of his cancer battle.

“To be selected with these extraordinary nominees is an honor and boy was I ready for some good news!” Douglas, who was recognized in the best supporting actor category, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Douglas is up against Christian Bale in “The Fighter,” Andrew Garfield in “The Social Network,” Jeremy Renner in “The Town” and Geoffrey Rush in “The King’s Speech.”

Douglas talked about his stage 4 throat cancer battle in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last month.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support,” he said. “Cancer has shown me what family is. It showed me a love that I never knew really existed.”

He’s working on his next film, the title part in Steven Soderbergh’s “Liberace.”

When Elizabeth Edwards saw Rielle Hunter in a magazine interview and realized that she and John Edwards were still an item, she had to be hospitalized, according to OK! magazine.

Socialite interviewer Daphne Barak said she communicated with Elizabeth, who pledged her to secrecy at the time, but allowed the information to be relased after her death.

After Rielle posed half-dressed, with her baby daughter, in a magazine, attacking Elizabeth and sending messages that she and John were still an item, Daphne says Elizabeth fell apart.

“Elizabeth collapsed and had to be hospitalized immediately after that article was published,” Daphne told OK! Soon after, Daphne heard from Elizabeth, asking her to keep quiet about the news at that time.

NBC insiders say that Jimmy Fallon is being positioned to be the network’s next big late-night star, according to the New York Post.

Since the NBC-Comcast merger, the succession plan in the event Jay Leno leaves is built on Fallon, whose current show is on right after Leno’s.

“Jimmy is a lot closer to (taking over from) Jay than Conan (O’Brien) was,” an insider said. “Jimmy is the future.”

Why wasn’t Paris Hilton at Nicole Richie‘s wedding?

When Richie, 29, wed Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden at her father Lionel’s Beverly Hills estate on Saturday, her former “Simple Life” co-star was missing.

“Nicole knew very well that having Paris involved would have inevitably turned a special night into being about their friendship,” a source told UsMagazine. “Nicole’s life is completely different now.”

Richie didn’t even invite Hilton, her best friend since the age of 2, the magazine says.

“She and Nicole aren’t close anymore, but there are no hard feelings there,” a source told Us.

Hilton even tweeted her happiness at heading to Vegas for her friend Jennifer Rovero’s birthday the same day.

“Good morning everyone! Off to Vegas for my BFF @CamRaFace’s Birthday!” Hilton tweeted. “Huge! Loves it!”
