Getting your player ready...

Colton Paulhus, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound defensive end from American River College in Sacramento, signed a scholarship offer Friday to play football at Colorado State.

Paulhus was all-conference as a freshman this past season and will not have to sit out a season as a junior college transfer.

“He’s not your typical junior college player because he has three years left,” Rams coach Steve Fairchild said. “Colton is a high-effort, high-energy player that really impresses you when you throw on his film.”

The Rams believe Paulhus fits the 3-4 and 4-3 defensive schemes as he has above-average strength (475-pound bench press) and good speed (4.6 seconds in 40-yard dash).

Paulhus originally signed with Idaho State after his senior season at Granite Bay (Calif.) High School, then decided to play closer to home at American. He chose CSU over Nevada, Texas Tech and Arizona State.

• Wyoming added Korey Jones, a 6-2, 220-pound linebacker originally from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, as a junior college transfer. Jones ranked 10th in the nation in tackles (108) this past season for Garden City (Kan.) Community College.
