Q: What role can the mayor play in bringing jobs to Denver?
A: As Mayor of Denver I plan on making the City and County of Denver a world class employer. In doing so we well become the example for other employers in the city and across the country to inspire them to follow along. I believe when we become a society of better employers, by paying a livable wage, providing good benefits, and being concerned about the communities we have our businesses in, that the local economy will improve. When employees on the lower end of the wage scale have more money to spend in our local economy, retail sales will increase, bringing more revenue to the city tax base, and an increase in city and state payroll deductions.
Q: What are the most important steps that need to be undertaken to lure more businesses to Denver?
A: We need to promote what a great city Denver already is. The Mayor can become more active in using the Mayoral Podium to voice his opinions and ideas to the rest of the country to show all the positve reasons to bring your business to Denver. It all comes back to being a City of World Class Employers. When the rest of the country sees this we will lure businesses here.
Q: Why have Dallas, Minneapolis and Atlanta been able to land those major corporate headquarter businesses and not Denver? What could be done to attract those kinds of businesses to the city?
A: Corporate Greed has lead to Denver losing the big employers we have lost. We don’t need to blame the last Mayor and tax incentives for losing those companies, if that’s how they choose to do business then good riddance to them. those kind of employers we don’t need in City and County of Denver. We are the central hub of the country, the center, the hearbeat of the nation. If corporations can not see all the postive reasons to do business in Denver. Then go somewhere else cause I am the type of Mayor that is Denver Proud and will defend the fact this is a Great City to do business in.
Q: Describe your economic plan – something that drives economic development in the city?
A: I believe that the only thing that will pull this city and country out of this recession will come from the hard work, blood, sweat and tears of the labor force and the hard working families across the city and country. Corporate greed is ruining our society, its time we forget about Golden Parachutes for overpaid CEO’s and invest in the American Worker. I believe when we start to do the right thing in business and government our local economy will improve.
Q: What experience in your own life would you bring that would guide you in improving economic development in Denver?
A: I am member of The Common Sense Party. Time to govern and lead with good common sense. We do not need to run government like a business, the government is the government and business is business. I am tired of us running government like a business it’s been like that far to long, maybe that why we have to many over paid executives running our government. It’s time to time to take government away from Corporate America and return it to the people.
