BRIGHTON — A former Brighton Fire Department employee was arrested after police said he broke into a fire station and stole a variety of equipment. He is also accused of threatening the fire chief.

Forty-year-old Robert Burns was arrested late last week on charges of theft by receiving.

Brighton Police say Burns broke into a fire station on East 120th Avenue in Brighton in late January and got away with knives, flashlights, hats and a firefighter’s jacket. Brighton Fire Chief Mark Bodane says Burns left him multiple voicemails threatening him with violence if he were to say anything to police about the break-in.
