A recently terminated employee of Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa is under investigation for possibly embezzling funds, 9News reported.
National Park Service spokesman James Doyle says an internal audit discovered the discrepancy. Park Service investigators later turned over the case to federal prosecutors.
The woman at the center of the investigation was fired, Doyle said.
