BOULDER — Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett will not seek the death penalty against a 22-year-old Longmont man accused of shooting University of New Hampshire football player Todd Walker to death on University Hill last month.
In a motion filed Wednesday in Boulder County District Court, Garnett said he decided not to pursue the death penalty after “analysis of the applicable law and the facts in this case, and after consultation with the Boulder Police Department and the victims’ families.”
Kevin Michael McGregor was arrested in connection with the shooting less than 24 hours after allegedly confronting Walker, 20, and CU student Elizabeth Roach, 21, near 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue at about 2 a.m. on March 18.
