Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier today announced that he is running for mayor, the fifth candidate in the race to succeed current Mayor Ed Tauer.
In a video announcement and news release, Frazier said he would work to create jobs, improve education and enhance public safety if he is elected in November.
“In the weeks and months ahead, I am going to work hard to earn your confidence and support. Aurora is ready to go to the next level — an Aurora you can be proud of,” Frazier said.
In November, Frazier lost the 7th District seat for U.S. Congress to Ed Perlmutter.
Others running for mayor of Aurora include former city councilman Steve Hogan, former state Rep. Debbie Stafford, psychotherapist Sheilah Thomas Davis and Jude Sandvall, former chairman of Aurora’s Business Advisory Board.
Tauer, elected mayor in 2003, will serve eight years as mayor but is term-limited.
