Colorado’s Joe Bosshard qualified for the 5,000 meters at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships with his third-place performance Saturday in the West Regional at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Bosshard, a sophomore from Crested Butte, finished the regional 5,000 in a personal-best time of 13:34.44. That ranks 11th in CU history. Bosshard qualified Thursday in the 10K for the NCAA championships, which start June 8 in Des Moines, Iowa.

CU junior Andy Wacker, junior Richard Medina and senior Matt Tebo also ran in the regional 5,000. Wacker finished 22nd in 14:01.13. Medina placed 31st (14:13.13), and Tebo was 38th (14:30.74).

CU’s Laura Thweatt, a senior from Durango, finished 16th in the women’s 5,000 (16:25.63).

• Adams State finished second in the men’s team standings at the Division II championships in Turlock, Calif., and third in the women’s team standings.

Abilene Christian (men) and Grand Valley (Mich.) State (women) won national team titles.

Grizzlies’ Lovato an All-American again.

Adams State sophomore outfielder Katelyn Lovato was selected to the Daktronics Division II All-America softball team for the second consecutive year. Lovato ranked fourth nationally this season with a .488 average.
