DURANGO — The pilot of a motorized glider has died after crashing onto a golf course in Durango, authorities said.

Durango Fire & Rescue Authority spokesman Dave Imming said the two-seat glider crashed Friday afternoon between the first hole and the driving range on the Glacier Club golf course. La Plata County sheriff’s Cpl. Sam Eggleston said no one on the ground was injured.

Sheriff’s investigator Tom Cowing told The Durango Herald that witnesses reported the glider had been at low altitude, banked hard right and narrowly missed a home before landing.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the victim’s identity.
